Wildfire contained to 300 acres in northwest Matagorda County

A fire burned near Midfield, Texas, Tuesday. Fire officials were worried about high winds, but were able to contain the fire.
MIDFIELD, Texas — A wildfire in northwest Matagorda County warranted a large response as fire crews battled high winds Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was fully contained Tuesday. The damage was limited to 300 acres, with crews working through the night to put out hot spots.
No structures were burned and no injuries were reported.
The fire was west of Midfield, Texas, with smoke from the fire picked up on radar.
Eleven volunteer fire departments helped to contain the fire.
The region was under a Red Flag Warning on Tuesday, meaning high winds were creating a high fire danger.
People were asked to avoid burning or any activity that could spark a fire.
